Sharing Knowledge, Growing Judo

21 August 2025

One of our juniors coaches, Boyd, recently had the incredible opportunity to travel to Sydney and shadow Warren Rosser (6th Dan), Head Coach at Australia’s largest club, UNSW Judo Club.

Warren represented Australia at the World Championships in 1983, 1985 and 1987, and went on to compete at the 1988 Olympic Games. Today, he is widely recognised as one of the leading innovators in judo coaching, both in Australia and internationally.

Across five action-packed days, Boyd attended 18 judo classes as part of Judo Australia’s coach mentoring initiative. This experience has been invaluable for Boyd’s growth as a coach and for the future development of our club.

Townsville Judo sincerely thanks Judo Australia for funding this initiative and extends our gratitude to Warren and the UNSW Judo community for their expertise, hospitality and friendship.
