Community Expos: Connecting with Townsville Families Through Judo

Townsville Judo recently had a fantastic weekend connecting with the local community through our attendance at two major expos on 31 January and 1 February.

On Friday 31 January, we attended the Defence Welcome & Information Expo, followed by the Get Active Sign On on Saturday 1 February. Both events were held at Townsville Stadium within the Murray Sporting Complex.

Across the two days, we had the opportunity to speak with a wide range of families, defence members, children and adults who were curious about judo and in many cases learning about the sport for the very first time. It was encouraging to see strong interest in a martial art that focuses on confidence, respect, coordination, self-control and safe physical contact.

Expos like these are a valuable opportunity for us to explain what makes judo unique, answer questions about classes and pathways and welcome new families into the Townsville Judo community. We also enjoyed reconnecting with familiar faces and chatting with families already involved in local sport.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stall, asked questions and showed interest in giving judo a try. We look forward to welcoming many new faces to the dojo over the coming weeks.
