BE PART OF
THE TEAM.
Great clubs don't run themselves. Behind every class, competition and achievement is a team of volunteers making it all possible.
MORE THAN JUST JUDO.
Townsville Judo Club is a not-for-profit community sporting organisation run entirely by volunteers. From our coaches on the mat to the people handling administration, events, fundraising and facilities, every contribution makes a difference.
As our club continues to grow in our new Wulguru dojo, so does the work involved in keeping everything running. We're always keen to welcome people with different skills, experiences and ideas.
You don't need to know anything about judo to get involved. You just need a willingness to contribute to a positive, welcoming club community.

GOOD TO KNOW.
Do I need to have judo experience?
Not at all. Many of the skills required to support our club come from outside judo. Administration, finance, events, community work and general organisational skills are all valuable.
Can parents join the committee?
Absolutely! Parents are very welcome to join our committee.
How much time is involved?
This depends on the position and the club's activities. Executive roles generally require more ongoing work, while ordinary committee members can share tasks according to their skills and availability.
We encourage anyone interested to discuss the expected commitment before nominating.
How often does the committee meet?
Our constitution requires the management committee to meet at least once every four months. Additional meetings may be scheduled as needed.
Meetings may also be conducted using suitable technology.
Do I need a Blue Card?
Blue Card requirements depend on the nature of the role, the activities involved and any applicable exemptions.
Roles involving children may require a valid Blue Card or other safeguarding checks. The club will confirm requirements before you begin relevant duties.
How long do committee positions last?
Under our constitution, elected management committee members retire at each Annual General Meeting and are eligible to nominate for re-election.
What if only one person nominates?
Elections are conducted in accordance with our constitution and the meeting's voting procedures.
Where there are insufficient nominated candidates, nominations may be accepted from the floor at the AGM.
Can I help without joining the committee?
Absolutely. You can help with events, competitions, fundraising, administration, facilities and other activities without becoming an elected committee member.
Let us know what you're interested in and we'll discuss suitable opportunities.
EVERY CONTRIBUTION COUNTS.
Whether you can offer your time, skills or ideas, we'd love to have you involved. Together, we can continue building something special for the Townsville judo community.
