A space to share

Let's see what's possible.

Townsville Judo Club is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit sporting club with a dedicated facility in Wulguru. We're interested in connecting with people, groups and organisations who could make use of our space when it's not needed for judo.

Whether you have something one-off or ongoing in mind, we'd love to hear your idea. There's no need to fit into a particular category — simply tell us what you're planning and we can explore whether the space is a good fit.

  • 12 m × 13 m permanent tatami mat area
  • Air-conditioned indoor space
  • Reception and spectator seating
  • Kitchenette (incl. fridge, kettle, microwave)
  • Television/display equipment (by arrangement)
  • External communal toilets (locked access)

Toilet facilities: Separate male and female toilets are located outside the dojo's rear exit and are communal facilities shared with other occupants of the complex. They are normally kept locked, with access arrangements explained to approved hirers.

Looking after our dojo

A few important ground rules.

Our permanent judo mats are specialist training equipment. These essential conditions apply to everyone using the mat area:

  • NO SHOES ON THE MATS Footwear must be removed before stepping onto the tatami.
  • NO FOOD OR DRINKS ON THE MATS Food and beverages must remain off the mat area.
  • NO SHARP OBJECTS ON THE MATS Items or equipment that may cut, puncture or damage the tatami are prohibited.
  • CHILDREN MUST BE TOILET TRAINED Any children using the mats must be fully toilet trained and appropriately supervised.

Other safety, supervision, insurance and facility-use conditions may apply depending on the activity. Full terms will be provided before any booking is confirmed.

Flexible arrangements

We consider one-off sessions, short programs and ongoing arrangements. Hire costs are tailored to the activity, booking duration, frequency and facility requirements — so get in touch and we can discuss a suitable quote.

Each enquiry is considered individually. Townsville Judo Club retains discretion to select partnerships and approve activities that are a good fit for our facilities, existing programs, operational requirements and community objectives, subject to applicable law.

Sending an enquiry does not create a booking. All use is subject to availability, club approval and agreed hire conditions.
