Townsville Open / NQ Regional 5
Saturday 12 September 2026
Townsville Judo, 35 Edison Street, Wulguru
This day will bring judo clubs from across North Queensland together for a full day of competition at our new Wulguru dojo.
We’re expecting competitors, coaches, families and supporters from clubs including Mossman, Cairns, Innisfail and Mackay and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone.
These small regional comps are the best place to start for those new to competing. All interested club members are encouraged to register and give it a go, no matter how long they’ve been doing judo for. It’s a casual, supportive environment and great experience for both kids and adults.
Competitor Registrations
The event is open to junior and senior competitors, with divisions for children, teenagers and adults across a range of ages, weights and experience levels. Please register now to help us plan. Late fees apply past 11pm, Thursday 10 September.
If you’re interested in lending a hand, please see below.
How you can help the Club
Hosting a competition takes a lot of hands and there are plenty of ways our members and families can help make the day run smoothly.
You can support the club by volunteering for a job or shift, whether that’s helping with setup, weigh-ins, marshalling, scoring, canteen, cleaning, rubbish checks or pack-down. Most roles don’t require any judo experience and even an hour or two makes a big difference.
We’re also gratefully accepting donations for the canteen, including drinks, home-made baked goods and other suitable items we can sell on the day. Canteen sales help offset the costs of hosting the event and support the club. At the bottom of the Canteen Register there’s also an equipment loan list, eg eskies, foldable tables, etc.
If you’re able to assist, please use the links below to put your name down or let us know what you can contribute. Every bit of help is appreciated.
